The second week of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta begins on September 22, offering players a chance to test the highly-anticipated upcoming FPS. The reboot of 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will release on October 28, making this multiplayer beta one of the last chances for players to get their hands on the game before launch.
Remember, you're getting early access to the Open Beta with your preorder (Xbox and PC), and you don't have to pay anything until the game ships in late October. So you could absolutely preorder, get a beta code, and then cancel your order after the beta finalises if you don't like the game, at no cost. But, if you don't want to preorder, don't worry, as you can still get access to the Open Beta on select days as well.
Modern Warfare 2 beta release times
Over the course of the CDL event that aired August 7, Activision released a bunch of info on the Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 open beta. You’ll find the release date timings below:
September 16-17: Weekend One (PlayStation early access)
September 18-20: Weekend One (PlayStation open beta)
September 22-23: Weekend Two (PC + Xbox early access, PlayStation open beta)
September 24-26: Weekend Two (All platforms open beta)
Generally, each beta period will launch at 6pm BST/10am PST/1pm EST.
However, for those players who have preordered the game, the process to join the early access beta on September 22 and 23 is a little more complicated. Along with their preorder, players will also receive a beta code from their retailer that they can use to download the beta client:

Select a chosen platform and local region
Receive a confirmation code, which can be entered into the chosen platform's store to unlock the beta
